Hello all beloved players of LK, it's Mci1 again with another idea. I know we already have a server, and that it may be a bit tough at times to run it, but I think we should also have a Tekkit server. It posesses many mods that enhance gameplay, and it is still a great game as also vanilla MC. I understand if this idea may seem bad in any way, or its not agreeable, but some things that the tekkit modpack has is very helpful. Theres XOR gates that are made into just one block, so it's a lot easier to make 1 XOR block instead of a large expance of redstone just to open a door. It has auto-mining also, and farming ECT ECT. Electricity, colored lights, and automated quarries are some of the great features of Tekkit. The only downfall is you would need the tekkit launcher to join. An up side, however, is that we can keep existing plugins! When you run the tekkit server software it acts just like bukkit, so you get a plugins folder also. If this idea is not agreeable and is not very popular with the general population of Lucky Kingdom, I apologise for wasting your time with this post. Thank You for reading and have a nice day. -Mci1
The server my brother used to go on switched from Vanilla to Requiring Tekkit, and popularity suddenly dropped like a rock. The reasons why this idea will probably not fly: 1. Unlike Spout, Tekkit requires each player to install the mod. I haven't looked into the details, but if the server is set to only allowing Tekkit players, we won't have many new players at all, which defeats the purpose of LK. 2. We already have several plugins that do what you described. The functionality, though, is not on, and can be open to abuse if allowed for members to use. Besides, why do you need a XOR gate to open doors? Just hit them with fists or use pressure plates 3. Even though we can keep existing plugins, there is always the possibility that Tekkit won't play nicely with the plugins we already have. 4. We are already dedicating ourselves to Spout, which allows both Spout and Vanilla players to play together. Once their dev team comes up with the server.jar files or whatever's used for server operation, we are likely to migrate entirely on to that, assuming we can keep the Spout and Vanilla co-operation. Tekkit is still Tekkit users-only.
I agree with Toast. Besides that, Mojang has incorporated the best minds of Bukkit into their company already... see note: http://www.minecraftforum.net/news/417-bukkit-officially-joins-mojang/ Falsebook has the minimized logic gates already. Check with Grich if he might allow that portion of Falsebook to be active. I believe it is called Falsebook ICs. I would rather have something like the redpower mod, but that requires user mods as well. Toast: XOR gates and other logic gates can be used for door if you want some of the buttons to be away from the door itself. I use these gates often and would enjoy having something like the Falsebook ICs setup for use. Would allow circuitry to take up way less space.
Beer, red power is incorperated into tekkit. **NOTE*** Tekkit is NOT a mod that one adds into minecraft, it is a pre-modded download of minecraft.**NOTE END*** I can get any plugins I want to use to play very well with the tekkit server, and when I say doors, I mean piston door systems. I'm jsut suggesting another ADDITION to the LK range of gaming, not suggesting that we change over. -Mci1 P.S. Tekkit jsut takes a chunk of bukkit mods and rolls it into one, its not jsut ONE MOD it is a pre-modded all at once download auto-updated mod pack with its own designated launcher, also with more than one type of mod pack.
Downloaded it to give it a go, takes you back to 1.0 and you cant play in 1.2.5.. just gives me a blank white screen. It looks cool, from what i saw in 1.0, but i'd rather the server stay as it is.
Cellan, it might be helpful to know that it uses spout's sorce code to run it's game and launcher. You need to go into the options menu and change it to 1.2.5 by selecting use developmental builds. The only problem that is standing is that we might want to disable the use of world anchors so people can not keep a certain area permantly loaded. I am not suggesting that we CHANGE the server, cellan, but that we add another server to our list of TF2 and Spout/vanilla servers, simply by making tekkit a viable option in our gaming arsenal of servers.
It already costs a significant sum of money to run quality servers. Having another minecraft server on a different box will cost too much money, and having it on the same box will significantly lower the quality of both servers and increase the likeliness of crashes significantly.
I can read yes.. I changed to 1.2.5 and it gave me a blank white screen. Minecraft uses most of the resources.. just read geos thing.
Ah, okay then. I just wanted to see the likely hood of this becoming a projected project and having one up and running, but as I see that it does not seem very likely, I can go in peace. And Cellan, I'm not sure what went up with your tekkit, I suggest trying to re-download it? Not arguing in any way or suggesting anything, but when I run my tekkit server on my computer I can run it just fine without any lag and Ican also play on it. It does not have to be a large server though, not as many people play tekkit as they do Vanilla MC. Any servers I have ever tried to play are set to about 20 people, and they are almost NEVER full.
You are running it for yourself on your computer.. hence minimal lag. Never full, that's what toast was saying... people playing on the server will stop playing on the server..
Mhmm mci1 you have this all wrong. think about things logically. how could it work. it needs textures. which need to be on your computer...
